My work is focused on the intersection between pain and alcohol-seeking behaviors. Recent data in humans suggest that pain could be a risk factor for Alcohol Use Disorder. In my research, I use animal models of addiction to explore the concrete role of pain as a risk factor for the different phases of alcohol addiction and the contributing brain circuits. This work is an extension of my PhD project in Dr. Lucia Hipolito laboratory (University of Valencia, Spain), in which I evaluated the effect of pain on alcohol relapse and the involvement of the mu opioid receptors in the rewarding pathways.

Before that, I studied Pharmacy Degree at the University of Valencia (Spain) and I started to work as an undergrad in the same laboratory.

I like combining the work in the lab with other activities such as cooking, photography, theater, and traveling. I also love being involved in projects of communicating science and equity and diversity in my community.
